  still, you hold onto false teachings of the wtbts which are only there for the enrichment of its chiefs.. as pointed out, the rest of the book of revelation is figurative, yet you hold that the number 144,000 is literal.

  the wtbts currently says that this number is limited to those running the wtbts and that anyone claiming to be part of it outside that self-selecting group could be mentally ill.. by what reasoning (not from wtbts origin) do you believe only 144,000 people will be ‘saved’, and how do you know who is part of this self-selected group, given virtually no other religious denomination does even remotely believe in the literalism of revelation.

  do they have to be jws?

  The "great evening meal of God" will not involve literal birds. The context shows that here birds means angels. The rest of Revelation shows that the angels take part in the judgments against God's enemies.

    I've been out of WT for 45 years but the shunning from my two children didn't begin shunning till sometime after the Ray Franz debacle.
    The children are now 63 and 60 years old respectively.

    i know how you must feel--2 of mine have been shunning me for 40 years now. Ive never met their partners and kids either.

  so after being rudely awakened by a cat fight outside (it's 3am here in the uk) and then proceeding to go outside to rescue my cats from the neighbourhood tom....... i'm now laying wide awake trying to make sense of jw "truth".

  (it's all my mind does these days, the lights gone on and won't turn off).

  what's the current jw stance on retirement savings?

  i know it changed.

  pre1975 it was an attitude of "don't worry about retirement, this system is ending soon".

  i never worried about a pension plan--and needed everything i earned to live on.

  My old dad had a good job--with a company pension plan. Although he was a loyal JW--he never wasted time pioneering, but he did contribute a LOT of ££ to the cult--including £5000 to help fund a hall. His main asset was his house--plus cash savings.

  He left the lot to me in his will.
